Things are changin' around here..

I had a realization last night that I want to focus on my concept & fashion photography. That's where my heart lies. I made this post on facebook last night and it got almost 30 hits:

"The more models I meet, the more I'm convinced that I was put on this earth to shoot fashion. I am inspired by art, not by money."

And it's true. Money is not an inspiration, it is an aspiration to eventually become a self sustainable photographer but as of right now, I'm not. And I can't afford to stress over the little things. I want to make art! So, you're going to see more and more art concept & fashion related photography up on here. Photographing maternity & family shots is not going to get me where I want to go in life. Don't get me wrong, I love my clients and enjoyed those shoots but I want to be a fashion photographer at Vogue, and I can't get there if I'm worrying about whether or not someone will let me use their photos in my portfolio. Models want you to put their work into their portfolio, in fact that's their fuel to survive in the industry.

I'm so excited. :)

Sneak Peak: Felice N-R

Sneak Peak of my shoot with my lovely aunt Felice.
She's a Counselor + Tarot Reader, here in Eugene, OR. And she's a great one at that! I go to her whenever I'm in need of a reading or some great life advice.

Fancy Clancy, Summer 2013

Hey guys! I just wanted to give you a lil' sneak peek from my shoot on Sunday with Fancy Clancy.
I just love working with Amy. Not only is she beautiful, but she's so creative. She also co-owns a darling little antique and gift shop here in Eugene, OR called Nest.

The top photo is my favorite shot from the whole day, with a simple edit.

The photo below is a fun edit of a not so great photo that was just a test shot. It was blurry, lopsided and dark, but I liked the way that she was positioned so I made it better. She was standing in front of the same blue house as the above photo. I wish my neighbors had a pink house! ;) Pink's my favorite color. Also, the skull on her skirt is blue, not pink. Editing is fun!

Now, this last photo is just a behind the scenes! Amy, the owner/designer behind Fancy Clancy, showed off her amazing arms in front of the camera! Damn!! Right?? Check out those arms!
Quote behind this photo: "What a great pole!" LOL what?? ;) Now, I know. She's got skillz.

Sweet Skins // Lookbook, Spring 2013

This was such a fun photo shoot. I haven't had this much fun shooting since my shoot with Amy Clancy of Fancy Clancy. Sweet Skins is an organic fashion company here in Eugene, OR. I worked at Tactics.com/womens as their product photographer for a year and 7 months, and I loved it but I didn't have as much freedom as I do now. I look forward to more fashion shoots. I'll post the photos from the Fancy Clancy shoot on here soon. :)

Adam & Debra's Wedding, April 20th 2013

My lovely friend Debra got married on Saturday 4/20/13. I feel so blessed to have friends like Debra. I feel so honored to be one of the few that were allowed to shoot at her wedding. I love shooting weddings, it was only my second wedding but I look forward to shooting more. Please take a look at the photos and let me know what you think! :)

Self Portraits #1: Identity.

So, I've been feeling pretty emotional over the past week. I finally had an inspired idea to help lift up my spirits. Photograph my sadness. So, I did. I broke in my new studio set up with this small series of photos. Warning: They're deep. My family/boyfriend thinks they're too disturbing too look at. Which I like to believe is a good thing, because that's what I was going for. I made myself cry to take quality images. It was an amazing experience. I feel so much better now that I am able to see what I look like when I feel the way I felt. Now, I know. So, I'm going to move on from the hurt. These are my favorites from the ones I shot. Enjoy!

On a happier note, I have a shoot at Noon with my dad who makes Damascus Steel Knives. I'm really looking forward to it. Also, I'm planning a styled shoot with Holy Donuts! Bakery in the near future, that will be soooo much fun! I cannot wait to share that with you when the time comes. <3
